SHAPED BY WATER SEEKING ARTIST PARTICIPANTS
ReplyDeletePat Banks is inviting artists to participate in a Shaped By Water project that is building upon the Author’s Tour that has helped bring mountain top removal to the attention of citizens. Pat received an Arts Meet Activism grant for this project which is a collaboration of artists in all genre’s that will focus on issues affecting the Kentucky River watershed, including Mountain Top Removal, mercury in the water supply, sewage and more in order to raise awareness, inspire stewardship and promote sustainable practices.
The Shaped by Water Conference/Roundtable will take place at the Center for Appalachian Studies at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond from 6 PM Monday, October 26th until noon on Wednesday October 28th. The conference activities include a boat cruise on the Kentucky River and “fly-overs” of mountaintop removal sights.
The deadline for registration is September 25 and space is limited.
